Math Courses
This section of Math on Info is an introduction to the subject of statistics. Its intent is to provide the exposure to statistics requisite for business and social science majors, and arguably the minimum exposure requisite for contribution to a decision-making process. It is based on a one-semester course that the site manager taught at Minnesota State University Moorhead in the fall of 2003.
Math Subjects
This page treats the use of Lagrange multipliers in what is termed the Lagrange method. The Lagrange multipliers are used to find the maximum and minimum values of a function f:ℝ²→ℝ, when the function is subject to one or more constraining equations. An explanation of why the Lagrange method works is first provided followed by a number of examples.
