Introduction This section of Math on Info is an introduction to Statistics. Its intent is to provide the exposure to statistics requisite for business and social science majors, and arguably the minimal exposure requisite for contribution to a decision-making process. The focus is on developing practical statistical skills; mathematically interesting problems will be found in subsequent sections, as developed. Prerequisite knowledge is minimal - an understanding of arithmetic operations and algebraic notation; consequently, the material should be accessible by a somewhat advanced 11-year-old to an active 90-year-old. In delivering the material, verbiage will be kept to a minimum; picture files will be used extensively. The order of presentation follows that of Statistics for Business and Economics by McClave, et al (with supplementation where important for exposure or useful for perspective) and may be used as a complementary aid or supplemental tool by those students taking a course employing the text.
